Kuensel reported the cabinet on November 10 approved an additional one-day holiday for the Paro tsechu. The report further states that “Until this year, the civil servants, schools and other institutions in the dzongkhag had a three-day break during the tsechu”
break was permitted for the civil servants, schools and institutions of the
Dzongkhag during the Tsechu”. But the fact is that the five day Paro Tshechu used to be for five days and all the government institutions and schools in the dzongkhag remained closed. It was only last year and this year we got three days holiday instead of five.
I believe that both the cabinet and the Kuensel did not do much research on Paro Tshechu which was there for hundreds of years. In actual sense, it is neither an additional day not four day Tshechu but a five day Tshechu. One day inside the Dzong and four days outside the Dzong. As far as I am concerned, I have studied in Paro till twelfth standard and I very well remember that we used to get five days in a year and not three days.
In real sense, the Parops are deprived of one day for the Paro Tshechu not and additional day for Parops. I know that Parops very well know about that.
Looks like Kuensel reporter needs more research in finding out what happened to one day instead of just copying from the press release.
