Influence of Western Culture: Whos responsibility?

If you are a frequent visitor in the town, you may notice how our younger generations are changing especially in terms of way they dress and they behave. We see today that our young children getting more inclination towards the western culture than what we have. It was during our time that we had friends wearing baggy jeans and jackets, Slowly hair jellying to make their hairs stand straight. The fashion was more for boys and than girls during those days but it is reverse now a days. More girls are into various fashions from HIP HOP to Punk which is the latest. It starts from their hair colour till the slippers and sandals they wear. We know that many parents are getting worried of the way their children adapt to the new looks and life style. They no longer seem to feel shy by wearing some of the clothes which even not wore in the night parties when night clubs first started in Bhutan.Today most of these girls if we talk, they would say that it is cool and they fee comfortable. But the question is who is responsible for this? Is it impact media or the businessmen who bring these fashionable clothes in the market.... or the beauty parlours or the saloon for making their hair like that. or are the Bhutanese parents spend too much or lavishly for their children without asking questions to them or feel that it is normal for their children to be like this. These are some of the pertinent questions that we must take into consideration before it is too late. Is it not also because of the failure on the part of the government in dealing with the situation? Does government do enough to address the youth problems or they think that it not big issue anymore? So lets do something, rethink our development part and progress and react according to the needs of the changing times.
